We provide 24-hour clinical assessment and coordination of admission!
2019 marks 50 years since Dr. Abraham Twerski initiated plans for Gateway Rehab Center. In the beginning, we primarily treated adults for alcohol and drug addiction. Under the leadership of the late Dr. Neil Capretto, Gateway Rehab broadened its mission to include evidence-based approaches to treatment of men, women and adolescents struggling with the disease of addiction.

from drug and alcohol addiction. Abe’s Place, our oldest and largest facility, is in need of renovations and updates. We have developed a plan to update the building, which would then provide a physical environment that matches our exceptional clinical services.
It will also allow us to create the Neil Capretto Family Resource and Education Center within Abe’s Place, as a part of our comprehensive effort to engage and educate our patient’s families and loved ones about the realities of addiction and in helping patients reach long-term recovery.
- Dr. Neil Capretto,
Medical Director, Gateway Rehab (1955-2018)
“My name is Janice Olson and I am a wife, a mother, an employee and a student with a 4.0 GPA. I am also a recovering heroin addict. I have been clean and happy for over six years now. My story of recovery begins and ends at Gateway Rehab, the only addiction treatment program I have ever completed. For eight agonizing years, I battled heroin addiction, finally and thankfully ending up at Gateway’s inpatient center in 2011. It was there I learned the powerful tools and techniques to overcome my dependency. At first, I was stubborn and unwilling to surrender. Still, the staff and therapists at Gateway Rehab never gave up on me. They believed in me, encouraged me and loved me. I began to walk the 12 steps, and slowly but surely, I discovered the underlying causes of my addiction. My Gateway experience was, and still is, one of transcendence—helping me to truly be healthy in body, mind and spirit. Today, I work at Gateway Rehab as a Certified Recovery Specialist assisting and mentoring many others through their personal journeys of recovery. I am truly blessed and grateful for Gateway and its staff.”

Abe’s Place is in need of renovations and updates to continue to treat those affected by addiction. The changes needed are significant, but vital in the treatment of the entire individual. We have developed a plan to update Abe’s Place to best serve those dealing with the disease of addiction. Overall, our goal is to raise $3,400,000 to make this vision a reality.
