Tim Cody Named Gateway Rehab's "Volunteer of the Year"

PITTSBURGH (May 7, 2009) - Gateway Rehabilitation Center recently honored its volunteers-who together contributed more than 5,700 hours of service in 2008-at a banquet at the Marriott Pittsburgh Airport.  The "Volunteer of the Year" award was presented to Tim Cody, a volunteer for the detoxification, inpatient, and outpatient programs at Gateway's main campus in Aliquippa, PA. "I am honored to receive the Volunteer of the Year award," said Cody.  "I believe we can only keep what we have by giving it away-that's why volunteering is so important to me." "When I count my blessings, I count Tim Cody.  I'm certain many of our staff would say the same," said Jan Curry, senior director of Gateway's main campus.

Pastor Richard Krznaric, one of Gateway's spiritual care counselors, was the keynote speaker for the event while Jill Perry, director of Gateway's Extended Care Division, served as emcee. Volunteer opportunities are available at all Gateway Rehab locations throughout Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Erie, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. Volunteers at Gateway perform such assignments as orienting new patients to treatment, leading discussion groups, working with families, and performing various clerical assignments. For more information, contact Gateway's Volunteer Office at 412-766-8700, ext. 1234.
