Gateway Rehab Names Two New Board Members

PITTSBURGH Gateway Rehabilitation Center, a nationally recognized private, not-for-profit drug and alcohol treatment organization, recently announced the addition of Nancy Armatas and Jack Manning to its Board of Directors.

Armatas is the founder of the law firm, Armatas and Associates, LLC, in Chicago. Prior to founding Armatas and Associates, she was a partner for the Chicago-based law firm Popovits & Robinson, P.C.  Armatas graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude with a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School. She is a member of the bar for Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

I was drawn to Gateway Rehab because of my strong belief in both Gateway’s mission and its staff, who are working so hard in support of that mission,” said Armatas.  “Having lived and worked in Pittsburgh before, it's an honor to have the opportunity to be of service to the Pittsburgh community."

Jack Manning is the regional manufacturing director of NOVA Chemicals.  Prior to his current position, Manning served as North American director of people services for NOVA Chemicals. Manning studied under Dr. Edwards Deming and Robert Reid Associates as a quality engineering consultant and has attended various management courses and leadership programs over his career, including the Cornell School of Industrial Labor Relations. Manning is also on the board of the Community College of Beaver County and the Beaver County United Way.

“Serving on Gateway Rehab’s board is a rare opportunity to provide greater purpose and meaning to my life's work,” said Manning. “I have tremendous respect and admiration for all who work in the field of recovery, and I strongly believe Gateway's mission provides a profound and lasting impact on society, one person at a time."

Gateway Rehab was founded in 1972 by Dr. Abraham J. Twerski, an internationally recognized authority in the field of chemical dependency treatment, psychiatrist, frequent lecturer, and author of more than 50 self-help related books.  More than 100,000 individuals have received treatment within the Gateway system, which reaches from Erie, PA to Washington, PA, and Columbus, OH.
