At
Gateway Rehab's recent book celebration for "Happiness and the Human Spirit: The
Spirituality of Becoming the Best You Can Be," founder and medical director
emeritus, Dr. Abraham Twerski, captured the crowd's attention with his remedies
for reaching true happiness in life and steps to correct what he calls,
"Spiritual Deficiency Syndrome" (SDS).
Using simple, accessible
language and clear examples, Dr. Twerski's book illustrates that true happiness
is attainable when we stop looking outside ourselves for the source. Instead,
happiness can be found within us, when we exercise our unique human abilities
such as gratitude, humility, compassion, and generosity that are the components
of the human spirit. "True happiness comes when you choose - again and again -
to be the best person you can be," wrote Dr. Twerski in his book.
